58-46 : Burnaby Ford Plant

Mark

Here’s another amazing image. Did you know there was a Ford Automotive Assembly Plant on Kingsway in Burnaby? The factory sat in the location now taken up by part of Metrotown Center. This image from 1958 shows the Ford Plant in all it’s glory. The street beside the plant is Silver Avenue and the street on the right is McKay Avenue. Both these streets used to connect to Kingsway.

I use to go to Maywood school grade 1 in 1965 . Then it was a Nabob jam plant. Still had Ford on the smoke stack till it was torn down

My Aunt Yvonne worked there during the war. Not sure if they were still building anything in 1958 or if it was just offices or warehouse space by then, anyone know?

Zoom right in on the Ford, Lincoln, Edsel and Mercury in the loop driveway! Great to see this.

After the war it was used as a parts depot until it was sold and torn down, Saveon food store then built on sight in late 80’s

That's Silver Avenue. It used to extend to Kingsway but now it's blocked by Metrotown.
