55-51 : Coal Harbour Shipping
This is Coal Harbour in Vancouver from 1955. A cool view of the shipping and rail activity going on in the area. The only tall building in the area is the Marine Building on Burrard Street.
Hello, it is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the upcoming shutdown of Vintage Air Photos. My hosting provider has increased rates for storage and the very large images this website uses now cost more in a month than the website makes per year. I will try to keep the website up for several more weeks but I imagine Vintage Air Photos will go offline mid-October. If there are any images you would like to keep viewing, now would probably be a good time to make a purchase. Thanks for all the views over the years.

Do you see the sign on Burrard – that would have been visible to any northbound cars – it says “FERRIES” and then 2nd line “Canadian Pacific” in the famous old script-style font.
Also the entrance to the skytrain tunnel – entirely visible.
Are those oil/fuel tanks right over the harbour – hard to imagine today.
and no Westin Bayshore.
