59-278 : Vancouver Waterfront (Main St.)
This is a nice photo of the Vancouver waterfront at the foot of Main Street from 1959. You get a nice view of the back of the Canadian National Pier.

The CN Pier was reconstructed in the 1980’s as “Main Street Dock”, used mainly for barge tie-ups, and the occasional visiting navy ship. Tymac Marine also operates from here, and the VPD and Port keep boats in boat houses here now. To the left is Canfisco (Canadian Fisheries Cooperative) which still exists today. All the docks to the right are long gone, replaced by Crab Park, complete with a rather natural looking (but entirely man-made) sandy beach.
