Hello, it is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the upcoming shutdown of Vintage Air Photos. My hosting provider has increased rates for storage and the very large images this website uses now cost more in a month than the website makes per year. I will try to keep the website up for several more weeks but I imagine Vintage Air Photos will go offline mid-October. If there are any images you would like to keep viewing, now would probably be a good time to make a purchase. Thanks for all the views over the years.
This is a cool shot of the construction of the new Granville Street Bridge from 1953. You can still see the old Granville Street Bridge in operation just to the left. Unfortunately, the image is not as crisp as some of the others, but still really interesting.
This is Granville Island and part of downtown Vancouver from 1956. This is the “new” Granville Street bridge which is only 2 years old here.
This 1946 photo is taken from downtown Vancouver looking south-west to Granville Island. It includes the old Granville Bridge, the Burrard Bridge and the old railway bridge over False Creek. You can also see a bit of the downtown end of Davie Village.
